About Us
What is Center Lane?
Center Lane is Westchester’s
only community center for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender,
and questioning (LGBTQ) youth, ages 13-21, living in and around
Westchester County, New York. A dynamic program of Westchester
Jewish Community Services (WJCS), Center Lane has been serving
LGBTQ youth, and their straight allies, since 1995.
The program provides emotional and social support through fun,
educational, age-appropriate activities. Center Lane offers individual,
group, and family counseling, educational and recreational activities,
a youth leadership program, social events and dances, an annual
Gay Prom and so much more. Center Lane also plays an active role
in the Westchester community at large through community education
trainings, advocacy work, collaborations and our annual PrideWorks
conference.
Last year, nearly 400 youth from throughout Westchester and from every racial, ethnic, religious and socio-economic background, participated in Center Lane activities. The program offers these youth the opportunity to receive and give support, to be themselves and to change their communities. The result is a respectful, multicultural community of friends who support and empower each other through the challenges of adolescence.
Center Lane has two locations: one in White Plains and one in Yonkers. |
